### Information

**Title**
Why is a transaction stuck in a pending status?

**Summary**
ACH transaction statuses can take up to four business days to change from `pending` to `processed` in the Dwolla API. If a transfer is sent to a [Verified Customer](https://developers.dwolla.com/guides/business-verified-customer) that is not in a verified/active state, the transfer will remain in a pending status until the end user completes their account setup and has a verified status.

Incomplete end user account setup can lead to delays in the delivery of funds and will be held in a pending state until issues are resolved with the account.

**Note:** Once the receiving Verified Customer has completed their account setup, the transfer will remain in a pending status and require intervention from Dwolla. Please reach out to [support@dwolla.com](mailto:support@dwolla.com) or your dedicated Account Manager to cancel or re-attempt the ACH credit to the receiving bank account.

**Recommendation:** To prevent transactions from getting stuck in a pending status, it is recommended that your application prevents the creation of a transaction to an identity Verified Customer that does not have a verified status.
