What is the sandbox and how is it different from production?

**Summary**  
The sandbox environment is a replica of the Dwolla production environment, supporting all of the same API endpoints. Client’s applications should be tested against the sandbox environment before being used in production.

The differences between our production environment and sandbox are:

1. The sandbox contains only test data and is separate from your production account.
2. All API endpoints have a base URL of [https://api-sandbox.dwolla.com/](https://api-sandbox.dwolla.com/) instead of [https://api.dwolla.com/](https://api.dwolla.com/).
3. Actual money is not sent or received as part of test transactions.

Real financial data should never be used in the sandbox.
