What is a preferred name for a business?

**Summary**  
The “preferred name” field in the Dwolla API should only be used for a business customer that has legally registered a fictitious name or doing business as (DBA) name.

On the Dwolla Platform, it is required that a business provide the legally Registered Business Name, which should be entered exactly as it is identified in the organizing documents with the Secretary of State where the business is registered.
