Summary
Dwolla’s webhooks are sent asynchronously and are not guaranteed to be delivered in order. Each action in the API generates an event which triggers a webhook. Sometimes, these events are generated within close timeframes from each other, meaning the delivery of the webhooks may not be consecutive in relation to the time of event creation.

For example, you may get a customer_verified webhook before a customer_created webhook. To solve for this, we recommend rejecting the customer_verified webhook request and letting Dwolla retry 15 minutes later.

Additionally, we recommend that applications protect against duplicated events by making event processing idempotent. One way of doing this is logging and storing the events you’ve processed, then not processing already-logged events.
